FS: Quad 33 and Quad 405, with cables

Today we have my working but tatty Quad 33 preamp and Quad 405 power amplifier for sale.

I have just tested these and they do work. But, they do hum and they are not pristine in the looks department. So, these are ripe for a service or an upgrade. And someone who is confident about cleaning them. They could sound so much better with some care and attention.

They also come with a handful of cables and a power cable for the 33 but not the 405. I think the cables cost me £30 - £40 new.

The 405 has an interesting feature - it has had two volume controls added at some point. No idea why.

So, I'm asking £140 for the lot, collection only (heavy beasties).

Hmm, no bites? Priced too high because of the condition? Maybe.

So, price drop time ...

£100 for the 33 & 405
£20 for the cables.

I have no spare dough sadly. potential buyers only need to look on the Dada Webshop for inspiration for replacement control knobs and other good 33 updates and any decent body-shop can clean up and re-spray the casework I think. The 405 has pages and pages on the web devoted to fettling old ones, or replacing boards with new types. I believe that Quad's service dept still have their own Series 2 boards as well, meaning that the speaker terminals, plus attached clamp?-board, can be replaced with nicer simple 4mm posts board...
