FS: Pair SPENDOR S8e's in Cherry, Excellent condition

Due to the arrival of a Pair of Spendor D7's I'm selling my much loved SPENDOR S8e'sin Cherry which are excellent working condition. Please see photo's.

After doing a little research these are selling for about £1200 though I found a pair of 6e's on e-bay for the same price.

They will need to be collected from me in Kingsbury NW London, as sadly the boxes were lost in a loft fire a couple of years ago.

They are very special and it took a great deal more money to better them. I'm a huge Spendor Fanboy and have been since I heard a pair of BC1's some forty five years ago at Studio 99 in Swiss Cottage.

The Cable I offered Free if purchased with speakers have now been sold.

I will take £850 for the speakers. Don't forget they will need to be collected or I am happy to make delivery arrangements subject to distance for the cost of the fuel.

You lot know how much I like the S8 and S8e's. They're certainly 'smooth' rather than lively & exciting, but hold on - the drama comes from the MUSIC, and NOT the speakers resonating and changing recorded perspectives by themselves. For me, this means years of happy and enjoyable listening!

The 'e' versions have a slightly dryer bass than the previous versions, which themselves were far better integrated from bass to mids than the classic series of old, and this should widen their appeal with a huge range of matching rooms and systems. Cabinets were first class and although the modern models are as well finished and solid, they look cheap in pictures.

Don't use them with over-gauge thick speaker cables (Chord Odyssey worked well with these) and neither with amps with 'slow, romantic' bass and you'll be delighted...

D7's better? They certainly have a slightly livelier 'more modern' balance, as the S9e's did to good effect, but the integration of the S8 drivers remains superb IMO and they're more than worth the grand or so asking price...

I have a pair of Spendor s8e speakers which I use with Chord odessey 4 cable, and Bel- canto ref-1000m power amplifiers, and a Jadis jpl valve pre-amp, and they are excellent speakers, great all round performance, and love a bit of power.
Have a free bump on me, surprised no one has taken you up on them, as you are selling at a very fair price, as they where £2300 new.

Chaps, don't fall for fizzy bling and acres of chrome/brushed metal trim around badly conceived drive units. These S8e's are superb on ALL forms of music, can be used in a wide variety of rooms and the 8" main driver helps efficiency.
