trouble with floorstanders is they dont courier well unless you have the original packing. ive got a set of dual concentrics but cant post so i will have to keep em

I've sent a few pairs of speakers all over the world Grant, plenty of bubble wrap and then wrap each speaker in heavy cardboard and they should be okay.

I sent a pair of Proac Studio 140s to France and a pair of Monitor Audio GS10s with stands to Thailand, I usually use transglobal for the international stuff but if you can get an agent that uses UPS or TNT for posting in the UK then the speakers should be fine.

I'd be inclined to go with those Tannoys - that's a very good price.

Are these any good? Seems a good deal:

Have a look on AV forums classifieds section for speakers, there's always something decent on there but a lot of it is mainly AV stuff (5.1 sets) probably out of your budget but there's a pair of XTZ floor standing speakers for sale at the minute.

I use a pair of these as front speakers on my AE Evo 5.1 set-up and although they are very good with AV duties, I did find them a bit lightweight with two channel material. I'd suggest sticking with something dedicated for two channel reproduction and a quick Google on the Tannoy DC6T seems to show they are well regarded...

We used to have a pair of tiny Tannoy Revolution DC4 and they sounded fantastic.

Hi, I have a pair of monitor audio bx5 floorstanding speakers, in oak, mint condition, £250, less than 2yrs old, excellent quality for the price, and only about 1hrs drive away.

i had a pair of acoustic enegy ae109, they were the older version of these ones you ask about.
i found them to be great sounding but they are laid back and slightly soft.
very good in av use as i found they took away the need for rears.
the price of £170 is a little high as i have often seen them go for around £120 and the ae109
go very cheap, often no more then £70 on the bay.
i'm using q acoustic floorstanders now and i like them more then the 109.
they sound better with music to my ears then ae but not so good with movies.

MA are why better then ae, not so soft.
