About 3 years ago I bought a record player and started to look through charity shops. This weekend I went to a record fair in Rugby and spent about 10 times more than I intended to. Since my LP collection is small but growing I thought I would have a look at my equipment
Yamaha P220 Record Player
(bought from the place that is recommending the speakers)
Yamaha AX592 Amp
(had for about 15 years form the US). Actually I just read a review on this Amp for mid/low value it doesn't get a bad write up
Chario Syntar Speakers
It all sits in the front room in my flat. Which has a wood floor and patio windows to a balcony. All of which I understand are bad. The room isn't big maybe 4.5m x 3m?
I called up the place that sold me the Record Player and they recommended upgrading my speaker to some BBC monitors, with 3 drivers. Others on here are so sure. Any suggestions on how to make my equipment sound better are welcome. I quite fancy doing a bit of DIY. I've upgraded the tone on one of my guitar. I'm going to be blasted for this but what is the best way to connect the wire into the speaker to ensure a good sound? The wires are 15 years old and too long so I was considering trimming them and exposing clean/fresh wire.
I'm a blues fan so the lps I've bought recently ranged from BB King, Lonnie Johnson to Blues jam at Chess. I'm also a fan of Ellie/Nina/Billie but also like Puccini /Dire Stairs/Cream. I would be interested to get my hands on some of the Ellie/Joe Pass lps. Any suggests here also welcome.
