Quick intro

Hi there

I'm Dave from Staffordshire and signed up after looking around and getting some excellent recommendations and advice.

Just swapped out my Beresford 7510 for a Caiman - can't fault Stans kit and service. Still getting used to the new DAC but first impressions are looking/sounding good.

Music tastes range from heavy metal through to dance/trance/breakbeat stuff.
Top five in no order Wildhearts, Pixies, Eat Static, Enslaved and Clutch.

Currently going through a series of upgrades/thoughts on the system - Squeezebox classic, through Caiman, to NAD 3130 and B&W 685's.
Replaced digital coax with Mark Grant Cables item - another suggestion from this site.

Might want to change/upgrade the amp in the future but can't decide/make up my mind whether I should/need to yet!!

Anyway that's about it - hopefully some pics of my system will be up soon - probably next week.

Eat Static

Hi Dave. There's a fair few of us on here into the Ozrics and Eat Static. You should fit in just right! I had a great night back at the Kentish Forum seeing Eat Static in 1991; absolutely banging, doing an after-show slot for the Ozrics. Still have the glow-in-the-dark sweatshirt :) Seen them a few times since and they are consistently great live. Funny how they went on to be maybe more sucessful than the Ozrics themselves.

Can't agree more - last saw the Ozric's in Holmfirth PictureDrome - excellent place to experience good live music. Lost count of the number of times I've seen them - and each time is excellent. Best one at Glossop tea-rooms - surreal doesn't describe it.

Haven't seen Eat Static for a while - have to hopefully change that.

Have you got 'Prepare Your Spirit', a two disc release of Eat Static's early cassette-only releases from their early days? I'm not sure how easy it is to get hold of now, but it is fantastic and well worth trying to track down. It just shows how innovative they were in moving 'rave' into an intelligent place.

The Ozrics always guaranteed a great night's entertainment. It's a shame that they've lost some of their spark with the loss of Jumpin' Jon, Roly and Merv and Joie... though I hear Jon has played a couple of gigs with Ed of late, which bodes well for things to come :)

Nope not got that one but I'm sure I have a cassette of their early stuff somewhere. Got a live bootleg cassette somewhere as well.

I'll have to track down some of their earlier stuff just to remember what they were like. First got into them with Abduction and just went on from there.

Ozrics - yeah shame that Jon left them but interesting to hear he's played with Ed recently.

BTW - have you heard of ZubZub - the output from ex-Ozric's bass player Zia Geelani. Very good and reminiscent of Static at times. Recommended
