I want to assess the interest in having a machined case made for the Raspberry Pi and Pi dac.
If more than ten people are interested I will approach my machinist to see what can be done without breaking the bank.
I have two interested persons so far today.
If you are interested please state this interest on this thread, to avoid cluttering up Marco's Pi + Pi dac thread or my PM section.

Paul
Hi Paul,
guess the "machined case" is some kind of milled aluminium, or? Similiar as here: http://www.adafruit.com/products/1036
Any chance for such a case just for the Raspi 2 w/o the iqaudio DAC?
Cheers,
Markus

Hi Markus,
Only if there is enough interest to warrant the set-up costs for machining. The case is likely to be fabricated using extrusions with holes milled into the panels/sides to accommodate the connectors.

Understood Paul.
Depending on the price I would be interested in a"Raspi 2 only" case.

I could be interested, Paul... depending on the design and price of course. :)
I am one of the 2 people interested mentioned above but thought I would just register my interest here again :D

Me too.
What's the minimum production run for the initial stab at it Paul?

The minimum order quantity would be 20 off but I rather think this is going to be too expensive after admin costs and shipping are added to the acquisition costs. It would have to be priced in excess of £45. Economy of scale for larger orders will not drop the price significantly as the machining is priced per hole/slot. The actual case has itself has progressive discounts with quantity but this is not going to make much difference.
With this in mind I think it may not be financially viable to proceed with a machined case for the Pi and Pi-dac especially as there appears to be little interest.

Paul
