Hi everybody,
I live in Hove, hence the unimaginative username. Lurked here for a bit before
registering, a good load of interesting stuff to read. My HiFi travels started in the
early 1970s with a Thorens TD150 with TP16 arm and Shure M75-6 pickup, Armstrong
521 amp, and a pair of Celestion Ditton 15 speakers. The system went through a few
changes over time, settled now with Thorens TD160/ SME Series 3/Shure V15 3 Vn35mr.
For playing CDs I have a Sony CDP337ESD.
The V15 3 feeds a Rotel RA 970BX amp via a Rotel RQ 970BX phono equaliser and a
Marantz SX72 Scratch Noise Suppressor, (that's what it says on the tin!).
The music comes out of a pair of Bowers & Wilkins CDM 7s.
I listen to a fairly wide of music, from electric blues through post 1950s jazz, classical,
but not much pop.
Best to all,
John

Hi John. Welcome to AOS.

I'm sure you'll find plenty to interest you here. Sounds like you started off about the same time as me (early seventies).

If you have any plans for your system we'd like to hear about them. You could start a thread in the Blank Canvas area and outline your ideas.

System photos are popular and there is a Gallery section you can contribute to if you'd like to.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the welcome to the forum. Geoff, you're right, there is a lot
of interesting things to read about and ideas to take on board, but as I mentioned
in my first post I'm settled with my modest system for the moment so I think
any changes will be fairly minor., maybe a new cartridge, Ortofon 2M Blue, for example.
As well as the SME Series 3, I have a Series 2 Improved in need of a major refurb
when funds permit.
Geoffrey, is there record dealer in Eastbourne for new and used that you can recommend?
Best to all,
John
