I have two Tannoy 2046 drivers on delivery from U.K.
These are 8 inch Dual-Concentric. Used on Tannoy System 800.
The drivers are new.

I wanted to try Tannoy without spending too much. I dont expect these
to be super audiophile quality. I already have serious speakers.
But hey, these are used for near-field professional monitors.

Basically there seem to be two box options:

1. Copy the System 800 box

2. MLTL style floorstander
MLTL solution from Sweden (http://www.hififorum.nu/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=93059)

Tannoy Sandringham clone (http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/165422-tannoy-sandringhamclone-8-dual-concentric-mltl.html)

Here we have the Tannoy 2046 drivers in System 800 like boxes.
The boxes are old Mission speakers. I binned the plastic front baffles
and cut new ones from thick plywood.

Don't have the System 800 crossover parts yet. Coils and caps ordered from German Visaton.

Hi Juha. If you get the crossovers right, those are going to sound lovely. I've owned a couple of pairs of System 800 speakers and they are excellent. They are decently transparent, the imaging is superb and they are pretty neutral by Tannoy standards. I've always thought those drivers would be fantastic in a quarter wave transmission line cabinet. Keep us informed.

Finally completed crossovers for Tannoy System 800.
Here we have one old Elcap and new Visaton MKT cap.

Everything went easy except the huge resistors were difficult to place.

I have to say that DIY System 800 sound was a positive surprise.
It is pleasant and well balanced.

Glad they turned out well for you. Those are very capable drive units.
