View Full Version : Hello from Solihull!
Hi Folks,
James from Solihull here. I've just taken the plunge and bought an old Garrard 401 on eBay, so here starts the downward spiral into vinyl tweakery. My current system comprises of a DDDAC fed from a BBB with twisted pear audio reclocker/cape, Audio Note OTO SE Phono Signature and Impulse H2 speakers (modded by Paul at RFC).
Cheers,
James
Welcome to AoS James. We have a!other Otto owner here and AN are well regarded in general, as is the 401 tt. hope you have fun with it.
Welcome to AoS James,
Some nice equipment you have there - the Impulse H2s are one of the few horn-loaded speakers I admire. They work very well with valve amplification. :)
What arm and cartridge do you plan to use with the Garrard?
Oh, and what are your tastes in music?
Enjoy the Forum
Regards
Barry
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I've gone for an Audio Note Arm 2 but not 100% certain on which cart. My amp has a built in MM stage so I think maybe an Audio Note IQ3. If the vinyl bug bites then I'll look down the MC route.
Music wise I listen to lots of acoustic sessions, jazz, soul and occasionally some heavier stuff. Most of my listening is done late at night so I tend to avoid anything that might wake the kids.

I think we're perhaps on a similar path james.
I've decided to spend some cash on my 401. I think a service is in order, and I'm thinking the audio note arm too, perhaps with an iq. I currently have an mc rondo bronze, but sut matching is proving daunting and difficult to understand.
I've started looking at plinth options too as a potential change to my Collinson plinth.

Hi Matthew I've ordered a plinth from that well known auction site. It's made by a guy in Moldova of all places and cost £195 delivered in oak veneer.

Hi James. Welcome from me too.
Nice system you have there. Bung some pictures in the Gallery, they'd be appreciated.
You are not the first here to buy a Moldovan plinth. I believe one or two other members have them.
Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Hi, James, I meant to say you are required to put your christian name and location in the boxes provided so it shows in the box on right of you name. This is a site rule to keep the friendly nature of the site. If you could get that done asap please
thanks Grant
