I've been pretty happy with my system (and particularly the vinyl side of things) of late but the wife has recently thrown me a curve ball - she wants to get a couple of kittens. This means getting covers organised for the turntable and so on, something my current 2-arm setup makes difficult, what with an arm hanging off the back and cartridges exposed to danger.
In anticipation, I've gone back to a single arm with removable headshell (Fidelity Research MF64S), which leaves two arms for sale. (And assorted covers to sort out ....)
Audio Note Arm2/II, internal and external silver wire
This is the second generation of Audio Note arms, still Rega geometry (though easily adjustable for VTA unlike your typical Rega arm. It's an evolution of a Helius design and goes under the name of 'captured unipivot' - essentially has the benefits of both a unipivot (in terms of flowing presentation) and a gimbal arm (precision, easy setup and avoiding the typical unipivot wobble when cueing up). This is my second one of these arms - the first I used with an Audio Note Io on a Voyd 3-motor, for an Audio Note Io, quite a common combination which should give some measure of the quality of the arm.
This one being the Arm2/II has internal silver wiring and a 1m of 19-strand AN-V silver litz interconnect cable. (The Arm1/II being the copper version and the Arm3/II having 27-strand AN-Vx).The silver wire is absolutely worthwhile, and for me the Arm2 sits in the sweet spot - while there's an audible jump between the copper and silver versions, it's far less clear cut for the Arm3, which is the one I owned previously).
This one comes as supplied, in the original box, with the Audio Note cartridge setup card, attached AN-V silver arm cable, and two arm weights, the standard one for normal cartridges and a heavy one for use with Io and other heavy cartridges. I bought it in October 2014 direct from Audio Note and it has been used exclusively with my Miyajima Shilabe. It retails at £850 and Audio Note charge £160 for the heavy counterweight (total of £1010 for the non-mathematicians). I'm offering this at £650 + courier (£20 in the UK including insurance) which I reckon is a bit of a bargain - you can pay far more for a tarted-up Rega RB250/300 derivative which falls well sort of the performance of this Audio Note arm).

Audio Technica ATP12T 10.5in tonearm
Much underrated vintage arm, high mass suitable for SPUs and other low complacence cartridges. I have been using this arm at the back of my Thorens for quite a while now, mainly with my old Vintage SPU GE, or assorted mono cartridges in my collection including the SPU GM Mono MkII, Miyajima Zero Mono and Miyajima Premium 78.
This one is quite heavily modified from standard - all easily put-backable if you want to - but you won't want to :) … anyway this was AT's top arm back in the day, spindle to pivot distance is 242mm which in real money is around a 10.5 in arm. I found it a great balance between the speed and energy of a 9in arm, and the more laid back (but sometimes slow) presentation of your average 12-incher. This arm killed any notion for me of going back to a 12in arm.
This one was internally rewired for me in Cardas silver by SpeedySteve, who also did a few cool add-ons: the standard counterweight I found a bit light (was right at the back of the arm with an SPU so he made a counterweight in tungsten for me (the one shown on the pic) which works far better with heavier headshell/cartridge combinations. Also the original arm has no arm lift while the arm rest is a huge chunk of metal that sits on its own - not the easiest to accommodate. So Steve made me up a really cool extension platform for the arm, which adds an integral arm lift (brand new, from Jelco) and arm holder with retaining clip.
The finish on this arm is something special, all chrome and shiny black … almost art deco in its coolness. I would happily have used it on the Thorens as my main arm, but it's **just** the wrong size - no matter how you try to position it, it catches on the metalwork. You need either a 9in arm to go on the original armboard, or a longer arm to sit outside of it on the plinth.
Gutted to be selling this but in my opinion it would make a perfect arm for a Garrard 301/401 or Lenco project, or perhaps on a pod on a more modern deck, for use with vintage cartridges like SPUs. It comes with the original counterweight, a quality OFC arm cable (never got round to getting a silver one to match the silver internal wiring) and the original arm rest, should you prefer to use it. I'll also include the beautifully turned blackwood pod that Steve made for me to locate it on my Thorens plinth, in case the new owner can do something with it. Additionally, it comes with the correct, boxed, heavy ATP-H headshell (not the one shown in the pic which is a FR one) - the accompanying bits are shown in another pic. Looking for £400 for this (plus £20 in UK for insured courier) which is a total bargain for its capabilities and uniqueness. I shall really miss it.
