I have been running 700s for six months or so. Paid full whack but dont regret a penny spent. Sublime with capella/caiman 2-a wee bit of tailoring settings wise and a couple of hundred hours running in and you have real music delight!!!

I considered the 700's a while back but I read too many reports about the upper mids & treble being a bit hot for my liking. I decided to stick with the 650 and I bought the Ember to go with it. I haven't looked back.

One thing i do miss is a decent closed-back model for when we're in bed. The 650's aren't an option because of the leakage. There's not any decent closed-back options on the Outlet store right now though. The PX 200-II's are supposed to be good but I'm skeptical about just how much sound leakage they'd be able to attenuate, being an on-ear design.

The 700s are quite different sonically to the 650s but in terms of resolution/comfort/cable isolation and just pure insight into the music they are a quantum leap forward.
My 650s only get used for movies now...

I could be tempted to get 800s in the future.

I also read the reviews but just took them with a pinch of salt. An awful lot of folks seem to want loads of bass-each to theyre own!!!!

It's not so much that I want loads of bass but that I don't want loads of treble. The 650's are a perfect fit for me.

I've just got out of hospital after a big operation and sadly won't be listening to headphones for quite a few months so I guess I can wait.

Welcome back. I am always worried about not waking up again after general anaesthetic. The chemistry behind the process is quite scary.

Thanks mate. I had a lump removed from inside my neck but it's left the most horrific scar from the back of my ear almost to my chin. It just means I can't listen to headphones for a couple of months.

I don't know what they called it. Something to do with the saliva gland though. It's damned uncomfortable now.

Yea, sounds like it. My wife had one removed Sept last year. Tricky op in order not to damage all the facial nerves. She had the top man (still NHS) who did a perfect job. Her R ear will always be numb as a result but she was told that before it went ahead.

Yeah, they told me the same about the nerves. Mine was called a parotidectomy. They didn't tell me about my ear being numb but I guess it's not that big a price to pay.

Its been a lousy year so far though. My Dad died just at the start of the month too. At least that gave me some perspective going in to the operation. Thank God we still do have an NHS, for now.
