View Full Version : A little work on my caiman mkII
A fantastic dac I have all of Stan's,creations cant resist playing around. Thus did Stan's mods for the bushmaster mk1 and modded the caiman mkII slightly. Mods as follows fuse removed replaced with auto circuit breaker at 1.6 amp sold at maplin very fast shut of when a fault develops when fault resolved resumes service sold at maplins cheap and effective ,other mods include main 10000uf cap replaced with sanyo oscon ten x 1000uf sepc caps in parallel replaced caps near the regulator as well as the headphone caps output sockets replaced with wbt next gen silver sockets. The results were better than I expected an improvement all round on what is already an excellent dac, within my system .Also safety is paramount do not do these mods if unshure of what you are doing. see help or advice 1483014831148321483314834

Nice work. Where's a good place for Oscons, normal ones or SEPC?
Also, I notice you don't have the firmware upgraded to the exprimental one..

Well Stan what do you think?
Thanks for the pleasant words, oscons found on ebay been collecting for some time ,read the spec sheets but comments on forums mostly negative. However I have found in life to see or do for yourself is wise where is possible. I will contact stan at some time in the future to order one of the chips should there be any available. Cheers for now aleman.

You mean negative comments about oscons? I though they were always thought of highly. Wanted some to upgrade/repair my Threshold pre-amp which I think needs the caps replacing. 470uF 25v though and not sure they did them that size.
