this is one of the perils of the average audiophile , just when we have put together our dream system , we decide that one of the items is not up to 'scratch' and needs to be upgraded.
When we have upgraded one piece of 'gear' , it unbalances the system , so we need to change something else (sound familiar ?).i have found the solution to this dilemma , simple , listen to the bloody music !!!!

I don't know. Just because a man changes his car every year doesn't mean he enjoys driving any less.

This year I decided I needed to do the following

1. Tweak my Dynalab FT101a tuner
2. Get a new set of Tannoy Cabs for my 15"MG's
3. Buy a Nakamichi Dragon
4. Think about getting some monoblocks
5. Get a Hashimoto SU7 SUT made

and the list goes on.

The only thing I've managed to do so far is order some new Tannoy cabs.

I got upgrade-itis BAD!

In order to diagnose the severity of your condition, please advise whether you actually have any tapes to play on the Dragon.

When I finally got to my dream system I decided I didn't like the wallpaper behind it! There's always something needs changing Alf.

Achieving daftee status on AoS is an honour! Once you get to Super-Daftee level, you gain access to a private members area, known as 'The Dungeon'.... ;)

Thank you. I'll look forward to achieving "Super-Daftee" then. So Marco, selling the S8e's and getting a pair of D7's is daft. Actually I tend to agree with you but that's upgrade-itis for you.

Andrei, watch this space! I have a "little" project on the go at the moment. The NAK can wait for another year. My new speakers are my 1st priority and then its a new SUT for the valve setup.

Oh bums, listening to a pr. of Spendor D7's as I'm writing this. My dealer said I could borrow them for a few days. Clever Bugger, he knew damn well I'd like em, sadly he's right.

Well my new Tannoy speakers are being produced, should be about 4-5 weeks before I get them. My next project is a hashimoto hm7 based SUT i have sourced a pair for a very reasonable price in the US. I'll get used to my new tannoys first and then get the SUT organise, Nick Gorham will hopefully be doing this for me :).

Fixed for you! ;):eyebrows:

The design is for 15 inch MGs and is called the RFC Warwick.

It took me a decade to get to a point where I genuinely do not want to change anything. I hated 'listening to the system', and glad it's out of my system!

Enjoy the music, and don't underestimate the time and effort taken to reach your ideal balance in a system, changing anything major can and will put you back on the HiFi merry-go-round.

Of course, for people like Jerry, it's the variation & swapping that is part of the fun & part of the hobby. Others, like me, can get too wrapped up in that sort of stuff.

Have now ordered a pair of Spendor D7's. Lucky me, the dealer said I could keep the demo models until mine come in 2-3 weeks. I genuinely hope that my upgrade-itis is now cured but...............:hmm:
