FS: Technics SL-150 Mk1 Turntable - No arm

Vintage direct drive technics deck. I think this uses a similar motor to the SL1200 (certainly looks much the same) but in this Mk1 version, it isn't quartz locked.

Supplied as pictured with no arm (I've pinched it for something else) but the very nice quality cast alloy, single piece SME armboard is included.

Works well. Runs up to speed quickly and is stable in both 33 and 45 rpm. Ran nice and quiet when I was using it with the arm on.

Cosmetically pretty good with only a few small marks on the deck and a number of light scratches on the lid. No cracks and the hinges are good and solid.

Original rubber mat included and in good condition.

Price wise, I've tried to see what these go for but they're fairly rare.
I'm asking £100 which is hopefully about right.

This is a effin' good deck at a very good price and a potential Rega eater!!! I'd happily have it myself, making it my third, but funds are very tight and we've still loads more to do here and it will be a few weeks before I can do anything - I live hundreds of miles away from Bicester too.

Advice for new owner - Remove the lid when playing, as it makes a HUGE sonic difference on these (slacken off the clamp screws slightly to aid removal).

See about siting. My first one needed the feet bypassing (but I used the lid). The second one I had, I used original feet but with lid removed.

The speed presets on the main board as well as the external ones may need a good clean from time to time, as speed can suddenly go all over the place.

No need for transformer removal, as the internal one is below the deck-plate and very well shielded!

Arm choice is limited because of height restrictions above and below. The 1970's SME's are fine, as were Hadcocks!

Thanks - for info, the trim pots, presets on the circuit board and power / speed switch have all been carefully cleaned so should have no speed issues at present.

Would this take a standard SL1210 tonearm ? Just wondering as I have a spare ...

Not without a good bit of hacking about I suspect. It's provisionally sold over on wigwam anyway - just trying to sort out transport.
If that doesn't work out, I've also got a spare 1210 arm so I'll offer it up but they are a 3 point fixing, from underneath rather than the SL-150 four point. Also, although the cut out looks a similar shape, I've a suspicion I read somewhere that they're different.
