Hello everyone, my name's Geoff and I am here on the recommendation of a good friend.

I've come back to vinyl at the ripe old age of 58, and what an eye opener it's been.

As for my music preferences, I have none, other than what I like. I am currently rebuilding the record collection that I gave away about 5 or so years ago! What was I thinking? No matter though, many
of them were well played, the replacements I am treating with a lot more respect.

My system is all NVA (Nene Valley Audio) with a pair of KEF R500. Deck is Technics SL1210-MK2 currently with a Goldring 2500.

It has been so many years since I put a piece of music on and actually sat and listened to it, I had quite forgotten the experience.

Welcome to AoS. You said it very well - vinyl turns 'having some music playing' into "listening to music"

I too stupidly got rid of all my vinyl and my TT about 4 years ago :doh:. But thanks to the good folks on here, I am now able to listen to music again :)

Your system sounds well put together - the Techie has a very string fan base here, so you're in good company

Along with the 8 track , R2R , cassette , CD :( and record players , all most enjoyable

And welcome back to the joys of vinyl. I have to confess I'm happy with either LP or CD, but accept and understand there is more involvement and user interaction when it comes to playing vinyl: carefully removing the LP from its sleeve, putting it on the turntable, cleaning it, carefully lowering the arm - and then sitting back and listening to the record, whilst perhaps reading the sleeve notes or admiring the art work of the record sleeve. :)

It is also a format with near endless opportunity to tinker with different cartridges, stylus profiles, mats, clamps etc., which may, or may not, be a good thing. :scratch:

You have a well put together system, with some quality gear.
