Try though I might I really can't get on with this, it's all working but I'm just not that interested to get seriously into it messing around with it.

It's fully built into the IQ case made for the DAC and comes with volumio installed on a brand new Kingston 8 GB card.

I understand there's a waiting list for the next batch of IQ DACs so I guess you could jump the queue by buying this lot ready to go.... you'll need your own power supply at 5v 2a.

I'll take 75 quid delivered in the UK or consider trades for a MM cartridge or comparable value, a decent tonearm cable, isonoe feet for my Technics or a nice pioneer stable platter CD player.

Pm me if interested. All the best.

It should be all working as it is, plug it in, connect a network cable and direct your browser to the volumio/local page... you can configure from there. If you want to add WiFi use one of these...

would a dongle from an old mouse work?

Unlikely - they tend to be frequency matched to the mouse...
I used one of these:

Cheap and cheerful and works like a charm with the different OS possibilities (unlike my posh Netgear one that refused to work with Moode)

1. Plug it in, connect up to your amp and switch it on
2. Open the internet on the laptop and type 192.168.0.1 (if your with VirgiN) "http://bthomehub.home/" if your with BT
3. Look at "Connected devices" or similar...should see the Pi there with an IP Address..192.168.x.x (Type this into a web browser on the tablet to control the Pi)
4. Your In!
5. Enjoy the Music

Pleased it's working mate, volumio comes with a bunch of radio stations preset which are useful to get it up and running.... The rest is a right PITA mate but you're almost there now I expect. I never attached a USB drive so no experience I can offer there sadly.

Have a read through this Grant. :)

Getting radio shows its working, just need to tell it where your music is!
Jump to 4a. on Martin's guide I linked to.

Just follow the bouncing ball from Part 4a... :)

Basically Grant your just going into settings and telling the Pi where your music is on your USB drive, just a drive letter.

Hi Grant.

It will be updating the list. In Volumio you should see it saying 'updating' in the bottom left corner.

Depending on how many tracks/directory tree length will determine how long it takes.

struth
19-05-2015, 16:39
obviously what i did it wrong...new it would be... looks like it has to be mounted:eyebrows: whatever that means and a keyboard and screen etc is needed plus code.... this is where i give up.

so i have a relatively expensive but decent sounding radio:lol: ah well it could be worse

Gazjam

You dont need keyboard and screen grant, all settings can be done from your tablet.
Jo's right too, will take a wee while to read your music library...go and have a cuppa and come back. :)

Result!

I found the output level was a bit low too, even compared to my MC phono stage.

aye no bother. thanks for the thought though. seems to be fine. I switched it off. left it and just powered it back and memory still has everything...say this, its damned quick in finding starting and switching tracks. just played She y Charles Hasnovoice and it was excellently rendered. a good upgrade re convenience alone from my cranky pc based system

cheers Gaz for the tips:)

Hi Grant

Glad you solved the hdd problem.

Maybe it's already not relevant, but ... The Pi provides by default 600mA through the USB ports and usually this is not sufficient to run not powered ext. HDDs. But there is a command line tweak which increases the current from the usb ports to 1200mA, and that is already sufficient. If someone is interested for the tweak I described it here: http://theaudiostandard.net/post/36208/thread
Some knowledge about using PuTTY (Windows) or Terminal/ssh (Mac) is needed.

It is advisable to use a power supply for the Pi with at least 2 Amps if you enable the tweak.

BTW in Volumio this tweak is not enabled and must be added manually, but in RuneAudio the tweak is enabled by default.

You should be able to adjust gain using alsamixer. My HiFiBerry DAC+ was set to 1mV by default.

In alsamixer playback option will be 0 (1mV) or 100% (2mV). If it's set to the lower value set it to 100% and exit. At the prompt execute alsactl store 0 otherwise it will be reset to 0% when you reboot.

Also be aware that some of the supplied USB power leads drop too much voltage for a USB powered drive to spin up properly...as I just found out ;)
