Welcome Matt
Hope you enjoy the forum - these are a good bunch of folks here - a lot of Technics lovers so you're in good company :)

I like the Q's too - almost bought a pair for my office system. Glad you have them on good stands - they need to be well mounted to bring out their best. Are the stands filled?

Barry

Thanks. Yes The stands out filled. Used to have them on the wall using the official brackets but just didn't sound right.

Welcome to AoS Matt. Great and friendly site and sure youll enjoy your visits. at 95 is a good enough cart and with the introduction of an he stylus or even better a shibata its pretty damned fine and will see off many more expensive carts. had a set of 2920s myself and are nice speakers...my bro has them now.
what music do you prefer?

Hi Matt,
Welcome to the AoS from me, lovely set up you have there, where in the UK are you?, you don't have to be too specific, but it helps nearby folks to feel less isolated.
What kind of music do you follow?
Any future plans for your system?

Enjoy your music

cheers Al

Trio Leo I'm from colchester in Essex and have got a few changes in mind. Amp to the new as501 with digital in our for the tv and maybe change speakers to the diamonds 220 as I miss my old diamonds 8.1

What a great County to live in ;)

Got an AS500 currently in use by my boy for an 'ipod dock' into a pair of MS206s, have to say I found it a bit 'spitty' but never tried it with Diamonds (I have 9.1s & 155s in my 'collection').

The other amp I was considering was the marantz pm6005(has a pm4000 many moons ago) but it only has the one tape loop where as the yamaha has 2(i have a minidisk and cd recorder that I like to use)

The Diamond 220s are good speakers - not the sexiest looking but they deliver the sonic goods. Paired with quality stands they are subtle, musical and well rounded. I like the fact that they are not fussy about placement with the down firing port. Wharfedale generally is very underrated IMHO - call it Walker Royal Audio, double the price, and you have a "genuine High End" product....

I agree that they are a bit plain looking but it is the downward firing port that I like. We only have a small flat so any space saving is nice to have. The q acoustics I have found needed some breathing space from the wall so the bottom of the stand stick out from the unit.

Welcome to AoS Matthew.

Nice neat set up you have there. Would your speakers benefit from being moved forward and away from the walls? Just a thought.

Enjoy the Forum

They may do but haven't really got the room to move them out at the mo.
