Just had an email land in my inbox that looks to be a scam


Royal Mail REF# 460253798667
A mailman have not deliver the parcel to your home because nobody was at home
Please down load information regarding box, print out then go to post office to collect the packing.

Just in case the packet isn't picked up within 30 working days We will have the reason to assert settlement from you for it's keeping in the amount of 2.92 £ for every day of keeping .

This might be auto created email message you can unsubscribe

Be vigilant and do not open email or click on links in email from parties you do not know!
The send address on the above email is afp-traffic@businessmailserver.org
"Please down load information" has a hyper link associated with it, as does "unsubscribe". The links probably pave the way to a Trojan infection.
The real telling thing about the text of the email is the very poor English used.

yes good advice...had a phone call a few days ago from some road management firm saying someone from my address was involved in an accident. b4 he(indian or such) got any further i told him that i was the only person living here and to bog off!

Is this a rare thing for you guys? If so it cannot help to warn those who are even more untouched by the crap that goes on.

My email provider seems to do a good job of detecting these and putting them into a spam folder (which I have a SQZS (smiles quietly to self) moment about but not a LOL).

It's rare for me to receive spam, and I go out of my way to protect my email address from scammers and the like.
Occasionally one slips through, and this one spurred me into giving everyone a timely reminder ...

As I said. the biggest clue was in the spelling.
"down load" should be download, despite what your average spell checker suggests.

I've had a similar call. Caller insisted I had had had an accident, I insisted I had not and hung up! :steam:

These days I'm relying more and more on caller ID. If I don't recognise the number (and all my friends and legitimate contacts appear as their names), I don't answer the phone. Overseas calls go through to voice mail - usually after a couple of "Hello"s, they hang up!

I get a lot of 'foreigners' ringing me to tell me they've detected something wrong with my computer, I generally wind them up till they get fed up and hang up on me :D

Yep we used to get a lot of them. Now it's robot voices trying to sell stuff.

The ukash scam is a scary one. I lost sleep over one..the guy who cleaned up the pc had a right laugh..
