Hi!

Hello from a long time-lurker but first time poster :).

My obsession with audio and vintage hifi started around 12 years ago when I turned 17, and it's been an amazing journey that has entailed the entry and exit of tens (ok, probably more like hundreds!) of components as my tastes have matured.

I have learned a lot about myself as well as the gear I've owned throughout this time, and I have reached a point where I am now pretty much settled with my current system/s (but I do have an unscratchable itch to try a pair of ESL57 or ESL63 one day).

Which is just as well, as I have been rather more proficient at the 'acquiring' side of this hobby than the 'disposal' side, much to my parents' dismay! However, I am finally making some headway in addressing this issue.

Anyway I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow audio nuts here and hope to be able to contribute where I can. I'll post details and pics of my system/s once I get my room tidied! :D …..

We'd definitely like to hear more about your system and what music you listen to.

Best place to start a thread with pictures is the Gallery section. Post some pics there and describe your gear.

If you have changes planned, let us know. We like to hear what people are doing.

I'm sure you'll find plenty to interest you here.

Thanks for the welcome, Geoff. :) My upcoming project involves assembling a pair of Celestion Ditton 66 loudspeakers. I have most of the parts I need, just one or two things still to source (e.g. the internal foam damping). I've been reading Qwin's Renovation thread with much interest, and hopefully this will help me with my project...

I've pretty broad tastes in music, but courtesy of my I dad grew up with a staple diet of 70s folk and rock such as America, The Eagles, Jackson Browne, Gerry Rafferty, Toto (hence my forum name!), etc, so that's the kind of music I have a soft spot for.

Follow that ESL dream - you will not regret it. My plan is to one day own a house with enough room in the lounge for some ESL63's. I have intimate knowledge of the 57s, 63's, 908's amd 909's, and would have them all if i had the money and space. But 63's are my personal favourites - close contest with 57's.

:lol: We're going to have to find a way of distinguishing between the three or four "Barry"s here on AoS. Why don't we all call ourselves "Bruce"?

Anyway Richard, a thumbs up from me regarding the Quad '57 speakers. I have used a pair for forty years, and despite their limitations, love them and will not be changing them for anything else. (Apart, perhaps from acquiring a second pair and stacking them, if and when I have the room.)

Long time no speak! How's things? No I'm afraid my Goodmans collection is all but gone now, but it was an immensely enjoyable journey! :)
