G'day,
Maybe Just a bit willy waving...but,
I tend to play most tunes from my PC, (FLAC etc upto 24/192) (Win7/Foobar/Kernel streaming) and of course I can listen to those nice new streams from Aunty with the help of MCP
I saw a thread about the guv'ner playing with a Pi and Volumio, and another thread sorta related...
Yep, I had a play with that, but I found that the PI struggled but perhaps mine is an old one.. not quite so bug free in the low level department. it's now a gps time source.
I'm using a CA DacPlus, which I blagged second hand as new. (not spot on it...) and it's beded in very nicely.
That is plugged into a Cubieboard2, which simply acts a USBserver, Hence the DacPlus appears as a device on my PC (or linux box if that is your will...) as the PC is some distance away, (using PCoIP)
At the noisy end of the DAC is a CA 551R via CoAx with a pair of ProAc Studio150s on QED cables, (ears went 'oh.. like ' when I heard these, but more about that on another thread.)
I can play 24/192, and the cubieboard2 is quite happy (even though working at 20-25%) and all goes across the LAN quite happily, but did find that cheep crappy switches caused a few 'issues' (just bombard them with udp to findout if you have a good'un)
USB can be compressed, but the apps are reporting that no compression is being used, good news.
and my SDR works over these devices which is a first..
I'm just wondering if anyone has done this, and what experiences they've had...
