Some discs in my collection can't be played on my main spinner, it does not want to read them, they play ok on a portable player or in the car so, is this a case of "shit happens" or is it a symptom of the CD player starting to fail. Ta guys.
its a dying laser ....should be easy enough to change ...normally four or five wire to solder ...or a plug in ribbon ..

My old Marantz cd started to skip which it has never done in the 30 years I've owned it but I used one of these to clean the lens and it definitely sorted it out..

I am not saying it will sort yours out but for a couple of £'s it may be worth a go ;)

Could be but maybe not. A dirty lens is more likely or it has dirt/dust on the rails or the worm drive.
When ones cross beam goes a skew on ones treddle one has to look at other things first.
With a dry Q-Tip very gently clean the lens, see if that works. Of course it could have dirt under the lens too but worth a try... wot!
