Pioneer CS-605 Speakers With Original Boxes

Been Offered a pair of these speakers for a reasonable price. Are they Any good they look to be in excellent condition.:) Any thoughts?

12in woofer, 4.75 midrange, horn tweeter; power handling 150w Decent speaker too if, a little bassy at times. if its a good price then get them and send them to me please:eyebrows:

I was just looking at the six hour round trip to Bournemouth. Those are very tasty. I would guess not subtle but livable.

I reckon in this case Adam (Beobloke) is probably right. I've always thought the same. Those drive units look a bit dodgy to me. I bet those are silver plastic trims around them, not metal chassis. Is that the original bass driver? It's got 'turbo' something written on it, sounds ominous. And I bet that fancy acoustic lens just has a cheap cone tweeter behind it. The same may even apply to the 'horn' supertweeter. As for the 'power meters' it's just meaningless bling. I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. They'll be shite! :lol:

Bit of fettling and properly partnered they will be pretty good I reckon. For fifty quid or thereabouts.

In principle they are the same as JBL of the period. Not as good quality but you can compensate some way to that.

JBLs? No way. Their lower priced models were still pretty good in the nineties, those Pioneers are not even remotely comparable. Tell me how one can compensate for thin walled MDF 'bottom budget' vinyl covered cabinets and 'two bob' driver quality.

Anyway, you leave my Tannoys out of it! :lol:

Cabinets can be re-inforced, internal bell wire replaced, crossovers replenished or upgraded, Cheap drive units are in every budget speaker, and quite a few expensive ones, they don't all sound bad.

All these kabuki speakers work on the same principle of the old JBLs - three/four way way with a large bass driver so you get an effortless sound that doesn't sound forced or like it is coming from a box.

The drive units in Heybrook HB1's were pretty feeble but that didn't stop them being a Damn fine speaker.
Get them in Dan, I reckon if you don't dig 'em someone on here will take them.
