I've just tried posting up a youtube video using the youtube insertion thing in the Advanced editor... Here: http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?38456-Cable-making-video&p=646346#post646346

On my computer (Win 8.1, Firefox 37.0.2) instead of the embedded youtube video, I get the following line of text:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ZecDs0GI4">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ZecDs0GI4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350">

Is there a fault or is it my PC?

Any answer on this 5 months later? I still can't get it to work - just get the same text as above.

What are you supposed to cut and paste between the Y tags?

Sam you have to remove the s from https once you have pasted the address,

Ah! I'll try that.. Secure Https:// all the way for me in normal circumstance.

Type left hand bracket ("["), "Y", "T" then right hand bracket ("]"). Then copy and paste in the YouTube link. Remove everything in front of the equal sign ("="), including the sign itself, and then terminate the string with "[/YT]". Thus, using your example of V6ZecDs0GI4, we have

V6ZecDs0GI4

I was using the "Insert Video" button which specifically gives the example of copy and pasting the whole url.

When I originally asked about this and when I asked again a few weeks ago, the "insert video" thing was creating YOUTUBE tags (in square brackets) or at least YT tags. Now when I use it, it gives VIDEO tags ... which now work.

So I guess it has been fixed somehow (I say "somehow" as I'd have thought it was a forum software issue outside of direct AoS control).

Let me test something.

YT tags using only the V6ZecDs0GI4 part:

V6ZecDs0GI4

YT tags using the url:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ZecDs0GI4

VIDEO tags using the full url:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ZecDs0GI4

VIDEO tags using only V6ZecDs0GI4

V6ZecDs0GI4

Interesting..

And finally, VIDEO tags using the https url :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ZecDs0GI4

OK, so https:// is fine with the VIDEO tags and YT is specifically for youtube (as you'd guess).

Oh, finally YOUTUBE tag:

V6ZecDs0GI4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ZecDs0GI4

(guess I was mistaken thinking I'd seen those tags..)

Interesting that VIDEO and YT tags have different height and width settings as standard.

Right! That has it sussed! Thanks for your help people...

The normal process for linking YouTube here ain't working. Normally I just use the button at the top of the message and add the last bit of the url.

What's changed? Can we still link to YouTube?

The first within the video brackets provided by the button

OK, think I got it. Use the video button rather than the YouTube button and removing the 's' from https did it.
