After watching "Oblivion" the other night and loving the role that vinyl played in the 'keeping it real' theme of the film, in a moment of madness, I've just bought one of these:

It cost me £44, and needs some TLC, but is bascially sound. Comes with an Ortofon cart....
Have I just made a big mistake....

It depends if you try and play your CDs on it:rolleyes:
Looks ok Barry. If it works then it isn't a mistake....You struggle to buy a cart for that :) Enjoy your tunes

You're in for a haunting experience if you can stand the irritation that goes with it. This is a lifelong passion for most of us that get involved.

Trouble is, if the bug really bites, you are on a long, painful and expensive descent into vinyl hell! Most of us are there already. ;) :)

Admins, my apologies if I started this in the wrong subforum - I meant it as more of a general "OMG" thread rather than a specific vinyl discussion. :o
I've been to Vinyhalla (hella?) before, believe me. I grew up with vinyl, and my "serious hi-fi" history includes a Rotel RP3000 and Thorens TD150. I was a DJ on my campus radiio station using Technics SL 1200's when they were new....
Three years ago, I put two TT's on dweebay, and a large crate of LP's in the local charity shop.
"That's it". I said.
"No more turntable nonsense, with all that static and stylus malarky" I said.
"Damn, I miss real hi-fi" I said..... :hmm:
Okay, as we're now in the analogue thread, here goes...
Conventional wisdom says mass load the hell out of the TT to improve performance, and I would normally have agreed, but then I became the owner of a pair of Harbeth speakers, and......

Okay, turns out I didn't buy the TT - apparently it was an expired listing that dweebay summarily re-listed . :steam:
So, anybody got a cheap TT they don't want....
Think I'll post in the appropriate forum.
