Are they all like that? sounds fine but takes ages to load (Panasonic BDT130) would I be wasting my money getting a dedicated CD player in this day and age?

I use a Cambridge Audio Azure 650BD as a transport, and sometimes it does take a little longer to load than a dedicated CD (seems to vary from disc to disc), but I'm willing to put up with it since it plays pretty much any format disc including SACD.

The later looks quite interesting.

This should be of some interest if you want to do it right. Not blueray but a corker of a transport!

dvd. players usually take a little longer to read especially if they do different formats etc. they first have to decide which head to use. have to say my pioneer 737 is pretty quick and beats most cd players ive used.

My Oppo Bluray loads CDs pretty quick, no longer than any of the Cambridge Audio CD players I've had.
Not tried any others.

+ 1 for the OPPO. It's a superb CD player in its own right.
