For a long time I had noise issues with the Caiman II and decided to order an Asynch-1.

While the Asynch-1 was on the way I figured out what my noise issues were.

using Windows 7 x64, it was a bad Intel NIC driver causing high latency issues.

any drivers later than 19.1 have this issue, as soon as i rolled back all my noise issues were gone.

the new super firmware is great, immediately noticed the difference.

with the new Asynch-1 I get an error now in J River:

"Playback could not be started on output WASAPI using the format 44.1kHz 2ch. the output format may not be supported by your hardware...."

strange, works with Bug Head player (AISO) and Music Bee (WASAPI).

works with the USB plugged directly in to the CII.

some sort of compatibility issue with Asynch and J River?

According to the notes from CMedia the USB chip in the Asynch-1 doesn't fully support WASAPI.

Works well with MusicBee WASAPI, in J River i still get pops in any mode. just doesn't like J River which used to be my primary music player.

with AISO in J River I get Buffering..... and that's it.

The sound is so great with the new firmware willing to keep working with it.

Thanks for being there Stan!

I used the CM6631A drivers 7.0.11.160 dated 3/4/2013 and WASAPI is now working in J River.

previous drivers were 7.0.11.80 dated 07/13/2012.

no issues now, just great sound.

thanks again
