My 3009 four pin connector (which presents the two RCA phono leads to the amp) is beginning to deteriorate. I know that I can purchase a new 'can' that will permit direct connection via RCA phono's to the bottom of the tone arm however, I'd rather keep it original if possible.
Has anyone any experience / suggestions?
My one has got pretty loose but is whole otherwise; its a common problem alas. I have seen recently a nice circular 5 pin din system being fitted to replace the crappy one sme made. There are pics of it somewhere( think it was on one of The Barbarian's threads.)

In what way is it beginning to deteriorate? The pins are silver plated and tarnish easily. Give them a clean. Also tighten up the earth 'socket' clip on the plug that engages with the thimble on the arm socket.

You also need to devise a way to clamp the connector to the arm better aswell. These connector are a pain in the arse imho. Im forever cleaning mine..
I always prefer to keep things original but mine is going get the SME Phono mod ASAP.. However i do need to swap out the Sockets that come with the modded unit..
