Boring but important topic. Would it be possible for some members to take a photo of the underside of their decks and post them on here?

I'd like to see how you've all earthed your decks.

Thanks

A

100% conventional for me, as I'm sure you can imagine a nightmare to take a photo. I am planning on rewiring as per Matt's (Audio Grail) suggestion. No one else...

If you rewire its important not to use a stiff wire, it needs to be very flexible (silicon sheeth is good) and dont tie wrap them all together just a loose loop occasionally

I personnaly think the on off switch in my 401 is a POS relying on thin strips of brass to make a weak contact
I stripped mine down recently and the contacts were corroded and had been some arcing so that cant be good, note that this switch is a knightmare to put back together

Re your Question about earthing
I earthed the mains lead to the underside of the top plate.
The arm was grounded via the phono lead 5th separate wire to the ground on my Paradise phono ground terminal, there was a mild hum with this set up.
So I ran an earth from the 401 top plate to the paradise phono ground terminal the hum got worse (ground loop)so at the connection under the top plate of the 401
I did the Diode, Cap, Resister thing from the paradise phono thread and it was quiet
With my Pioneer turntable there was no hum so I only earthed the turtnbale and the phono was connected to the paradise as normal and was quiet
