This person had better have done their homework!
I bet on some items, they are destroying non-working turntables which could be stripped for parts or fixed cheaply and sold on ebay for MORE than the profit of the very very very niche market of wierd cake stands!
I'm always surprised that some terribly plasticy low-end turntables, once guaranteed working and cleaned up, are sold easily for £50 odd to people just looking to play some vinyl and not looking for high-end anything.
Blasphemy. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest his armpits.
Having carefully read previous postings and followed links in this thread, I'm sure I'm posting this in the right section...and I was wondering if members might offer advice on a large, thread-drive turntable project I have in mind? I've sourced most of the parts - motor by Singer, thread by Jonelle, arm by Prosthetics-R-Us. But I'm really stuck over the matter of a platter and bearing - can anyone suggest a possible source?
I'm also a bit stuck for a plinth, but I'm not so worried about that. I was told authoritatively by a nice old lady to whom I gave my last completed project, a pair of earphones made from coat hangers, that someday my plinth would come.
