Tannoy Mercury M20

I picked a set if these up earlier this week (Mk1 non-gold I think) with some other kit. Cabinets have a few chunks missing and all together I wasn't expecting much.

Plugged them in tonight and hugely surprised by how decent they are. I've had a few budget Tannoys before (later ones) and these are way better.

Just goes to show I still have much to learn!

Me too! I brought a pair from a well known auction site a while back, blooming good fun, open, good bass and very dynamic, smooth an full- bloodied.:cool:

Yes the M20 is a great little unit, portrays voices in a very natural way.
I have had 2 pairs and got a third set for my Girlfriends system, they are in mint condition, picked them up for £27 and close enough to collect, she is well pleased with them.

Always liked the look of them too, quite classy for a relatively 'budget' loudspeaker from yesterday.:)

First proper HiFi I ever heard was M20 gold Mk2 on the end of a Musical fidelity A1 and a Sansui turntable - great sound. I think it fair to say that Alistair's system was responsible for setting me off on my interest in quality audio :cool:
