Tip. Don't overtighten the screw on the arm grip/clamp. I've heard of castings cracking. Just do it up until firm, but no more.

i been reading a lot about these since buying one, it seems there's a yellow earth lead behind the sticker on the head,do yours have that?
mine doesn't which is why i ask.

Never checked. I've not needed to.

I bought another arm wand recently and I'm thinking of doing a silver litz rewire on that to the miniplug and screened pure silver lead out from the miniplug socket. Also, a little extra mass can't hurt, so I reckon some black heat shrink sleeving along the tube will add a bit and it will also damp the tube walls. I'm wondering if expanded polyurethane granules inside the tube would help too. After all, your arm cannot be too inert, .

Get it set up right and you're going to love that 774.

The sound quality is light years better than any Rega I've used, upgraded or not. I was using a Linn Ittok on my Garrard 401 years ago and bought a 774 just out of curiosity really. I had at the time (nearly thirty years ago) felt that the Ittok was one of the best arms in the world and was rather shocked when the Mission clearly outperformed it. The Ittok went, sharpish. It's been 774s ever since.
