Hi to all, very nice piece of kit I just bought - so pleased that I had to do a mini review and add some pictures.
Please note - I have nothing to do with Custom HiFi Cables Ltd, no financial interest, the Managing director isn't my best mate...etc etc. You get the point....? ! !!!
I needed a passive pre amp to be fed from my all new Beresford Caiman Mk2.
One variable out to my Amp and the other variable out to a BK XLS200 Sub.
( The Line - level input to my Arcam FMJA19 is high passed @ 200Hz...this is why I wanted a Passive pre...so I could send a full range signal to my Sub ).
What I said to Sean at HiFi Cables is that I never intend - or want to upgrade this pre amp...that's the plan anyway - So absolute sound quality is what I was after.
I asked for Silver plated RCA sockets and internal wiring with Solid core UPOCC copper wiring.
( Just a personal preference )...My Interconnects use the same type of Copper.
Have to say the front volume control is spot on. Superb high quality feel to the control.
The front switch just isolates the power to the volume control. I asked for it to be powered from a 12v DC Battery which
Sean kindly did for me. Now my pre amp runs on 12v DC Power and my Caiman Mk2 runs from 15v DC Battery ( separate thread ).
The Sound ?.....Quick listen ...more to follow - absolutely stunning. The absolute musicality from Stan's Caiman Mk2 is there
as it was before. More to follow on the Sound quality over the weekend....hopefully the misses will go out and leave me alone. !!!
Love it, absolutely love it. Got me thinking about a dedicated Power amp, but that will have to wait a while or my misses will slaughter me !!:mental:
Oh..nearly forgot. Cost me £270.00 delivered. To me, that is shockingly cheap for such a high quality piece of Hifi.
Straight out of the box, this is deeply impressive... I'll add some more on the SQ over the weekend.
