I'm looking for a cheap amplifier from someone I know. I've found an amp that they can afford. it 'looks' quite nice. Does anyone have any knowledge about the SILVER brand. Japanese I know but it's not something I come across before.

Thanks for the link. I had managed to find that when I searched but it doesn't really tell me where they stood quality wise. I like the look of the volume control though:)

I remember the brand and logo distinctly from the Littlewood catalogue when I was a kid - thought their gleaming stuff was the beez nuts :lol:

The basic topology of the front panel is so similar. I believe the gear sold under the Boots label years ago was possibly from Hitachi too.

If it is a Hitachi product, it's probably not bad at all.

Mind you, if I recall, around then (late seventies/early eighties) Roland Electronics (Rotel) were in the same market for 'Brand' electronics.

Thanks all, I think I'll stick to JVC or Akai then. Not the best but a safe option for a small budget.
