Greetings fellow sound artists!
I have been into audio since the age of ten, when I resurrected my elder brother's discarded Phillips Casette player, something like this:

That was more years ago than I care to remember, and since then I have had a succession of hi-fi kit pass through my hands. I spent quite a few years in the audio/video industry designing, installing, marketing and writing about A/V, and in that time got to play with some very high-end toys.:)
I dabble in DIY periodically - have built a pair of Zigmahornets, make my own cables, and am always on the lookout for cost-effective ways of getting more 'bang for my buck'
Anyway currently my system looks like this:
Main system:
Sony Playstation 1 slightly tweaked
Marantz CD6000 slightly tweaked
NAD C 326BEE Integrated stock
iPhone 4 into Pure docking station, into a Lindy DAC for streaming
Harbeth HLM speakers on DIY Skylan stand clones.
Cables made using Geoff Day's White Moonshine recipes :)
Office:
Alesis powered monitors currently running straight form my iMac - will be going outboard DAC soon...
Other bits currently not in srevice:
DIY sealed-enclosure fullrange floorstanders
Quad 11L's re-housed in sandwich-design cabinets, with bi-wire options removed and suspended long-fibre wool damping.
Classic Arcam Alpha integrated
Tweaked Amptastic tripath amp, with upgraded connections, wooden cabinet and linear power supply.
Philips CD720 currently undergoing surgery to fully damp, re-cap, and bypass all unnecessary circuitry
Five Playstation Ones in various stages of tweaking (read: disrepair :))
For me it's not about price-tags, brand-names or specifications. It's about the MUSIC, plain and simple. I love all types of music, except for the real heavy hard-core versions of any genre. My tastes are very eclectic, and stretch from Pat Metheney to Recoil, including Diana Krall, Leonard Cohen, Lesley Garret, and Cowboy Junkies to name but a few.
I look forward to getting to know everyone on here.
Barry
