Well the main room is finished, just the bedroom and studio systems to do........

As some will know, I moved into a new house with my Mrs. recently. the main room is free of boxes :) and the system is set up. I blew out the home cinema and got a small Cambridge Audio TVs sound base for the TV, I lie the BMR drivers in it they work well, but we decided that the TV would play second fiddle to the stereo in the new place. Right from the get go, I worked on the acoustics spending a lot of money on the oak floor which is on top of the concrete one. Did not float it as, being a bungalow there is no one down stairs. Used a firm that does studio and theatre floors, (the did the studios at the National Theatre recently) and while not cheap, their quote wasgood and the workmanship exceptional.

Being a bungalow the ceiling is pitched and that has advantages as it means no real vetical standing wave as the floor and ceiling aren't parallel. The back wall is covered in record and CD racks and is not flat so it acts as a diffuser so a small amount of bass trading has proved to be all that is necessary. the main system looks like this

The central rack has the Composer-1 TT, the Pre and Power Amp and the cassette deck

I like the S/Ts, in the much smaller room I had before, perversely it would seem, they sorted a slight lumpiness in the bass. Not as daft as it would seem as the intermodulation products or lack of them in the waveform, can be a bugger in a small space. In this space, they provide a bit more "air" in the soundstage I think, but to be honest I'm trying them out all over again on the whole they area good thing I think, but I want to see what an uprated xover does to the sound at some point.

Glad you like the pics, they are from a series I did of an Italian Jazz band called the Logrecco Trio, I shot them live at a gig in Milan about 20 years ago. There where three in the original series, the one of the sax player is giong in the studio. They were in an exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London and as you walked in on the far wall the bass pic was between a Picasso and a Roy Lichtensein, I don't think I have been more flattered. Roald Dahl's widow bought one of the limited edition for their collection.

Looking very good paul. been toying with S T,s myself as my room aint big and if i get the new tannoys im after it may be an issue. we shall see.
