I may change things around in my system in the near future and would like to gauge interest in the following items.
A pair of Quad 510 monoblocks. These use the amplifier boards from a 606 but have pretty beefy power supplies as well as output transformers. Very well regarded from the limited information available on the net, so I took a punt when a pair came up for sale. I then had them refurbished by a friend who is an ex-BBC engineer, according to the suggestions on Dada Electronics website. All caps were replaced and bypass caps installed. I also obtained a complete set of output cards from Quad, so the amps can be configured for practically any speaker impedance. Power output is 135W per channel. They sound absolutely superb with my Harbeths and I found them to be a big step up from a Quad 405-2 and a Meridian 556. I briefly tried them into a pair of B&W 802Ds and they did extremely well, although I didn't push them too hard.
The details of modifications made can be found here. (http://quadrevisionspot.blogspot.co.uk/2010/04/revision-of-quad-520f.html)
There are a few scratches on the front of one amp, but otherwise they're in decent cosmetic condition. I've added acoustifeet to the bases so they can be stacked. Speaker outputs are via XLRs, but I will include a 2.5mm long pair of 4mm Van Damme cables that I made up. They have Neutrik XLRs and Nakamichi banana plugs as terminations. I'd like £450 for the pair. Delivery is possible but they're pretty heavy at about 15kg each.
I may also move on my Musical Fidelity A1 FBP preamp. Lots about this online so I won't wax lyrical. This is the second one I've owned, I sincerely hope I don't regret selling it again! Complete with box, manual and remote. I'd be looking for £400.
Please PM me if you're interested. I hope the picture attached comes through, but I'll post some better ones when I get home on Sunday evening.
