My wife was just heading up to bed, and I noticed there was a Sting concert being shown on BBC4 When The Last Ship Sails (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b03n2gh6/sting-when-the-last-ship-sails)*. I turned it on, but as I did I said:

I love Sting's stuff, but if you've got Ten Summoner's Tales (http://www.sting.com/discography/album/16/Albums) then I don't think you need any more Sting albums

And then I started watching and more importantly listening. I thought the concert was wonderful.

So the first album on my Pi/Dac today is The Last Ship (http://www.sting.com/discography/album/388/Albums) and I have a very large smile on my face.

The Last Ship is getting better each time I listen to it.

I have Ten Summoner's Tales, but I wouldn't say it is my favourite Sting album.

Watched The Last Ship, not expecting too much but was very pleasantly surprised by what I heard; so much so I could well buy the CD.

Yes i know what you mean. have The Last Ship on heavy vinyl and it is a fabulous recording though i do think it's like a trip to Beamish museum. I can't help but be a little irritated by Sting as like Robson Green they are Geordies when it suits them. The rest of the time they are trying to talk posh. Ten Summoners Tales is by far a more pleasing listen and doesn't suffer from the stage play effect.
