The culprit a project headphone amp ....been playing up for a year or so and now started get really bad . So I bit the bullet removed the cover and had a look ..jeez its an open frame cheap carbon film 50k log ........Had scoot round rs and found a suitable replacement ...but its a cermet oh well its cheap [£3] . So the thing arrived today ...yes got the wrong pitch between the pins ! hayho ...cut some fine insulated wire and made some stand offs., soldered it up and bloody hell it works . Not only does it work but it sounds rather nice ..richer fuller less edgy. So I think looking in my bit box ..how about swapping out the op amp and fitting a dil socket . No sooner said than done ......found a decent opamp opa2134....Well its not up to the xing sheng 703b [modded] but it a lot closer and miles better than the original. Waiting for the arrival of a ad823 reputedly the rolls royce of dual opamps . hmmm think I've got so brown dog adapters some where .........
