im sure ive seen an answer to this but cant find it. the power supply ive just bought has a rather bright display, is there a semi transparent tape or something to dull it? russ andrews does some but i dont need 100 stickers!!

What about one of those screen protectors you get for apple mobiles, cut one of those to size.

The stuff you are thinking about is called LIGHTDIMS. Comes from the US in an envelope. Try www.lightdims.com

I would second this, if its just an LED indicator lamp add a resistor on the leg.
I'm sure I have seen a post giving advice on which leg and what value resistor, depending on the LED voltage used and the amount of reduction desired, google it.

If you don't want to get inside and involved in the electricals then the black tinting films used on automotive rear lights might work.
This is also available as a spray paint, you would have to mask the area, or you could spray some on to a poly bag and then apply with a small brush.
