Just how many men of a certain age remember Floella...??? Whilst she was doing Playaway I was around fourteen or fifteen and very impressionable. I would frequently get myself into a state watching her on TV and have to sort things out.

Whatever happened to Floella...???

Yes, I remember Floella!

I saw/read something about her recently (in the last few years?) but can't remember what it was.

I remember her from Playschool :)

She does the voice of Mama Mirabelle on Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies, a cartoon / live action nature programme on CBeebies... Mama Mirabelle is an elephant, by the way!

Hi Sean,
Being a shade older than you my memory goes back a little further. I remember watching a programme on Granada TV, (maybe called 'Cool for Cats', maybe I'm confused just thinking about it), in which a troupe of young female (of course) dancers strutted their stuff to songs then in that week's hit parade (maybe Pan's People ?) and a group of singists sang cover versions of other songs in the hit parade. The singists were known as the Granadiers and included amongst them was one Anita Harris, (now broke and destitute and dependant on charity I understand) but ....
my attention was constantly fixed on another of the singists called Toni Eden, real name Antoinette Chippendale and daughter of a then well known jazz musician, trombonist I think, called 'Chips' Chippendale.
Toni Eden went on to enjoy further success taking leading roles in the West End in one or more of Lionel Bart's musicals, Oliver being the one I remember and then seemed to fade from the scene. Anyone able to add any more details or are you all far too young? .
Ohhh, the memories - must go and lie down now, getting too excited :lol:

You beat me to it :)

I saw her on TV recently and she's certainly no elephant I can tell you. I think she's matured beautifully (unlike me I'm afraid :()

Thats a name from the past,a company I worked for about 30 years ago always had a summer party at the bosses country house and Floella was usually a guest.I was always jealous coz the boss had Tannoy GRF loudspeakers in his party room with Naim 135 amps.
