Alright, which AOSers store unused kit and (punctured) blow-up dolls in their lofts?

Nope, but we do have a box room which used to be a bathroom and has several hifi amps, a pair of mission speakers a PA system, a mixing desk, 5 guitars and my vinyl collection in it.... I couldn't be arsed lifting that lot up and down a ladder to the loft. The loft is where the cardboard boxes live.

I did in the past but dumped/gave away most of it (mostly dumped admittedly).

Absolutely no point in storing machines that you do not use anymore...

Just put a pair of Cyrus Mono X's up in the loft. Haven't decided yet to sell them or not.

Now decided and sold

Just LP12, GL78 & Akai AP003 turntables in the boy's room (destined for loft) & only one set of speakers not being used (JBL Control ones) which I intend to sell but lack of inertia keeps getting in the way.

When I started out in this crazy hobby, still at home, the only space to get a system going was in my mums loft. I boarded it out, moved the hatch from the bedroom to inside a store cupboard, and access was ladders only in a house with 11ft high ceilings.
I had IMF TLS80's, driven by a pair of Sugden P51 amps, a Sondex pre, and AR legend, along with circa 7000 lp's. All in the loft of a 2 up/2 down terrace. Happy days!
I'm no stranger to lofts lol.
The only kit I have in my loft right now is a pair of foundation stands and a few bits of very old Meridian component stuff that has stayed up there, untested, for about 15 years. The eves are stuffed with boxes.
The 3rd bedroom is the store room, that thankfully is getting emptier as I thin the herd.

Guilty. I have a shit load of gear up there, far too many tt's and amps. Just sold the last of my valve amps so me only valve gear now are my phono stages.

Not guilty, I have been selling my excess gear over the past few months. DACs, amps, speakers, cable etc.

My listening space is in the roof space. I don't have a loft.
I only have my Arcam Alpha gear being unused at the moment.
I need a good set of cheap speakers to either install a system in the garage or the lounge.

The Mrs isn't into music, so it's likely to be the garage.

I was going to bring a large wad of notes and a transit van Geoff... but if you've got a garage full too, perhaps an 18t lorry is more in order ;)

Ah, but the workshop is full of tools and engineering stuff. Not Hi-Fi (apart from about 25 kilos of cable). Must get it all sorted too. I intend to make Hi-Fi accessories and parts amongst other things.

Don't keep stuff in the loft, just complete another system. We have five rooms with working systems now. As the bathroom isn't yet done and the dining room is still being plastered, we obviously need to have two systems spare for those. I have the TTs, amps and speakers for those, just need a couple of CD players now although I could just use a couple of the Mac Minis!!

Two of them are used all the time so I suppose the others could be called unused but they get switched on when guests come or when I fancy the occasional play.

But what does that mean "do not use anymore" ?

So often I see people (not with hifi) get rid of stuff like camping gear etc and then 3 years down the line they want to go camping on a whim.. but, oh, we got rid of all the gear! To replace it requires effort and thought and money and so doing things on a whim becomes impossible.

I'm happy to keep stuff I haven't used for a long while so I can play with it some rainy day on a whim..

Makes it warm and cosy! :) Although i only have enough room for 2 systems in one room see sig. All has literally been bought cheap :D not lost but all works fine so happy all round.

Not too much in the loft actually, just boxes for everything, my old Garrard 301 plinth and a pair of boxed GLL Imagio IC318 loudspeakers that are waiting for me to find another new ICT driver for them (been waiting two years - I think it's going to be an even longer wait still). I will also be putting my microcassette deck and a couple of small boxed pairs of loudspeakers up there in due course, purely to get them out of the way.

As an aside, one of those pairs of speakers are Goodmans M100s - small 1980s standmounters similar to the Maxim 2s only with a much nicer tweeter. I couldn't resist these on eBay as they were described as 'mint' - turned out they'd been stored since new and have never even been opened. I've peered inside the box but can't bring myself to break the wrapping!

Off the top of my head I think I have six amps four pairs of speakers and a CD player I am not using
So I need to buy five sources and two pairs of speakers so I can have another six set ups to listen to

Three of those amps with a pair of speakers each and the CD player could make a good system ?:mental:

Or, too much stuff.

I'm about to have a 'cull'. It will be painful as I like it all, but a lot will have to go.

We just found a very heavy copper cable and my son is currently stripping down to sell for scrap to make some pocket money. In the old days I would have made mains cable with it but the guage is so big I doubt any plugs would fit it

Difficult to pick what though...maybe a couple of tt's, and a set of speaks would make some room. maybe an integrated too. a couple of carts and an arm or too should have the bank manager happy and you with more room to enjoy.

I could do with a cartridge and an arm.

And an amp.

And a phono stage.

And then probably another cartridge because by then I'll probably have broken the first one.
