Really not impressed with Halifax currently :steam:

We remortgaged with them 2 weeks ago and have borrowed, what is a substantial amount to the wife and I, because their rates to borrow are lower than the interest we get with our savings which are tied up in long-term accounts etc...

Just means we can finish of doing the inside of the house before we start looking at an extension and new, very large, man shed for me :D

This is our first house & mortgage by the way but as we had a lot of fluid cash when we bought the house we only took a 15 year mortgage out, thank god!

Anyways...

This was all supposed to be done and dusted 2 weeks ago and we're still waiting for the funds to be released due to poor miscommunication between 2 mortgage advisors we have dealt with plus they promised results that clearly couldn't be managed (ie. All sorted and funds to us within a few days)! Plus they always seem to be conveniently off when we call/chase up!

Unfortunately we're caught by the short and curlies as the rates we've been offered we can't get anywhere else so we just have to wait...

I'm just severely pissed that they can't sort their communication out between them and it's US that has to do all the leg work

Sorry, end of rant... :steam:

having been through 5 mortgage companies in the past 5 months including the Halifax I find it is frequently very difficult with all of them [had to raise 2 mortgages]

skipton were a total pain , asking loads of ridiculous things . I would not deal with them again

principality not bad and good rates

accord were a real pain [Yorkshire ] they did not like my conveyancer even though they dealt with them before . he was not on the cml panel so was not acceptable!!! . they kept finding excuses so eventually abandoned but they were cheap as regards fees.

Halifax were fast , very efficient and their optima legal services were free and efficient 10/10

the mortgage works [nationwide] were fast but they didn`t like my conveyancer either as he was also acting for vendor [another partner was ] so after a fair dealay changing solicitors managed to get mortgage through. they are not cheap but they are good

fortunately I have a brilliant persistant mortgage broker who REALLY goes the extra mile working all hours so it just shows how important they are . [free service as well as gets fees from mortgage company ]

its a stressful old business these days getting mortgages, all these cheap offers are not easy to get
