Hi ladies and gents,

I've been pointed towards this forum as I have some 15" Tannoy dual concentrics to sell. I'll make a thread about that elsewhere, though.

A little about me:
I'm a student at the University of Sheffield, studying Physics.
I'm also a part-time sound engineer, working with local bands. I have my own PA system, which is undergoing a transition at the moment...

- I've got a pair of EV Deltamaxes with Beyma 15P1200Nd drivers as midbasses, running up to 1kHz where the DH1a compression driver (which is a beast) takes over.
- The Deltamaxes are big and heavy, so I'm heading towards 12" tops using Tannoy T12s with Fane Sov.Pro 12-500 midbasses, and the DH1a compression drivers again. I'd then use the Beyma drivers in subwoofers.
I'll be DIYing some subwoofer cabinets for the Beymas.

My home setup is much more humble: a pair of Behringer B2031P monitors with a little DIY cube subwoofer with 2x JBL GTO1214. Samson Servo-550 on the Behringers, and C.Audio RA3001 bridged into the JBL subs wired in series for around 1.2kW. A speaker processor takes care of crossover and EQ duties.

I like a variety of music, from Barbara Bonney to Tori Amos, KT Tunstall, Barclay James Harvest, Santana (more specifically, the Supernatural album), Dire Straits, and then there's a jump to Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, with a little dubstep thrown in.

I also really like this, but its pretty much the only decent track they do (IMHO):

Think that's all for now,

Chris

I'm a live sound engineer. Its XLR everywhere while trying to shove a multi-kW PA into the corner of a pub. I wouldn't mind trying my hand at studio work, but I like the atmosphere of live music events - I quite like the pressure.

I'm from Blackburn originally, but will probably stay in Sheffield once I've graduated. Dad always said I'd be carried off by a Yorkshire lass, and he wasn't far wrong - she's from Derbyshire.

Off for now - providing PA for a party. They didn't tell me the size of the basement, just that "bigger is better". There's a 4kW PA system in a room the size of my bathroom  Think I'll take earplugs...

Hi Chris, good to see you came over here. It's a different sort of crazy from Audio-Talk!

Hello Chris. Welcome to AOS.

Tannoys are popular on the forum (I use a pair myself), although we have the odd member who slags them off. :D

That's an interesting set-up you have. Why not post some pictures in the Gallery section. They'd be appreciated.

You will find areas dedicated to every Hi-Fi topic here.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Oooops, looks like I managed to create 2 threads when making this one.

Any chance a Mod could delete the other one?

I'll be posting up some photos of th big Tannoys in the selling section, and then I'll take some pics of my current system. Might have to change the Samson amp out - there's a dry joint in there somewhere, and the right channel keeps dropping. Comes back if I hit it.
Got a QSC amp that I can drop in there. More power!

Don't worry about that Chris. Both threads have replies on so they may as well remain. They'll soon descend the page and disappear anyway as more threads arrive..
