View Full Version : Sofa between the speakers? Good or bad idea?

Hi all.

Having a wee shuftee recently... Has anyone placed a leather sofa between their speakers? Just wondering if anyone could give me some idea if it's a good idea or not... obviously I will try it later but just thought I'd ask.

A note: The center of the speakers (Tannoy DC) would be above the back of the sofa though.

It will cause issues with soundstaging, imaging and other potential problems.

Don't do it

If you put 2 mirrors opposite on the other wall then it should reflect back to you nicely on the sofa:eyebrows:

Twits that come with all this Technical crap within Hi-Fi look so foolish to me.

The simple answer is get some gear and measure the response, a real livable room isn't going to be perfect before or after the sofa install without some major equalization.

Ha ha, good question André, but we both know the answer to that one ;)

Music is ultimately the most important, but if you like good sound as much as you do good music (and if not, why are you a member of a high-end audio forum?), then it's important to set up 'the stereo' right! ;)

lol.. we get accustomed to how our system sounds. Regardless of it's components.

Moving things around in room equates to a 50/50 chance of messing something up but obviously it could also improve things. So, the answer to your question, Andre is both... music quality for me and others is just as important as the music itself.

The look of a system is also in there for some and can be in a higher priority bracket of the both quality and the music they play. There is lot's of ways to look at it.

I don't think that's the case either in your house.....
