Arguably *the* best 6SN7s known to man, and rare as hen's teeth... Can't wait to have a listen to them in the Copper amp!!
Marco.
They look freakin' awesome.
I must say though they'll be an exception to the rule I have found. Generally Rusky tubes are super reliable but can nearly always be bettered sonically.
Let's hope these are an exception:) They look so cool that maybe they will be;)
Lol... I agree that they look awesome! :)
However, I'm well aware of the sonic pedigree of these particular Russkis, which is why they sell for rather more than other Russian valves do. Did you check the ebay listing? ;)

Yeah I did after I posted and was going to say they look reassuringly expensive.
I suspect if I Googled I'd find a wealth of positives otherwise you wouldn't have dropped the dosh:eyebrows:
Actually I am running 4 Rusky 6N6P in my 211 monos - the ones that came with the amp.
I bought some new ones, same manufacturer and put them in. They must take a while to break-in or something but I can't listen to the new ones. Madness but very true.
I don't think there is much in the way of alternatives.
6N6P is a super tube, LOL. With hours they are obviously very good as the amps sound excellent to me.
If they do sound a bit shite at first give them a chance maybe. They could be fine from the word go though.

coolio...! :)
Still got that spare black-glass CV1988, if you fancy it... ;)
Marco.
Just for a giggle I up'd the Russian valve count from some stuff I had lying around and am currently running 33% Eastern block:D
picked up a pair of ECF80-TUNGSRAM-NOS myself last night as a good price:eyebrows:

I did some valve rolling versus system frequency response checks the other day and anyone who thinks there is no difference is entirely wrong.
It is child's play to measure the differences and they are really quite marked. Even rectifier changes can result in +/-2 to 3DB differences all over the frequency range.
I used at my SP14 pre 60's RCA and Raytheon, Sylvania VT231, 50's Sylvania GTB and finally 2-3 months ago 6N8S from foton factory and 6N8S from novosibirsk factory.
After many hours of evaluation at different days with diffrent mood :) İ ended with vt231 at voltage amplifier (input tube) and 6N8S Foton as output based on my stock. İ wonder 1578 very much but not cheap tube. foton and novosibirsk tubes are better then all rca raytheon and sylvania tubes İ have except vt231 and suprised comparing with the price.

I'm also using a VT231 in my Project Ember for the last wee while. Nice sound, warm but not too dark, if you know what I mean. This one was made in 1945 by General Electric in Canada for the Canadian Armed Forces.
I had thought I'd found nirvana in my Sylvania Chrome Dome 6SN7GTA but the VT231 is better. Just a tad better definition across the board in my opinion.
One of the great things about the Project Ember is that it only uses one valve so there's no hassle finding matched pairs or quads. And it's a lot cheaper obviously. That pair you bought Marco are interesting though. Are you still liking the sound?
Gordon.
