This is a rare 230/240 volt version, and is in mint condition. Shindo amps are renowned for being gentle on the valves, with pretty much a lifetime of use guaranteed (Shindo claim at least 10000 hours tube life for the Aurieges). I have owned this amp for a few years now, but it has had light use, having been usurped in my system by the Monbrison. TBH, I actually prefer the 'junior' Aurieges as a line preamp, and only use the Monbrison because of its very good integral phono-stage. If I didn't do vinyl, I'd be keeping it.

Just to say Peter very kindly loaned this to me for some weeks while waiting on my custom build, and it's a truly fabulous thing, astonishingly lovely timbre, tone and texture, also just as able on rhythm and timing. Not to mention the whole cachet/pride of ownership thing - it's exquisitely put together.

Also I agree, I preferred this to the Monbrison (which is twice the price!).

Some lucky individual is in for a treat.

(Couldn't deal with a nicer chap either!).

+1 for Peter.

And the aurieges for that matter. I had the two box pre with phono stage - the most incredible richness of tone, but still wonderfully detailed and nimble. I have to also mention the bass reproduction ... Absolutely the best I've heard, made a massive impact with the usually bass shy LVs here. I sold it to go on a transparency uber alles mission and I now rather miss it!

By all accounts this revised one box version is even better. Haven't got the spare £££ sadly, but good luck with the sale

Good luck with the sale Peter, from what I've read this Shindo is a stunning performer.

Having tried to figure out the topology I think I know what approach was taken with the circuit design. Very clever and allowing the triode to work in an almost perfect linear fashion.

Have a BUMPETY BUMP.

Cheers, Alan

Shindo seem to be popular in the States, where enthusiasts congregate on the audioaficianado site, which has a sub-section just for Shindo.

Actually, I'd love to hear the modified SPU cartridge at some point, but it's a bit of a specialist item, being the old A mount configuration. The modified 301 looks the business, too, but TBH the price of their upper-range stuff is way out of my league. I've yet to see a Shindo power amp for sale in the UK ... one day, maybe ...

I've owned both the Auriege and the Monbrisson, and would agree with what has been said. Nice line stage. One other point, Ken Shindo died last year; this will be an 'original' Shindo, made while he was still around. For some reason, they are more popular in Germany and Austria than in the UK.
I don't think the buyer can go wrong with this. But make sure you use the Shindo power cable, which comes with the amp. Probably best to stand it on a solid block of maple wood.

Hmm, maybe I should stash it away as a long-term investment? OTOH, that would be a waste of a brilliant preamp, which someone should be enjoying.

Yes, wood is always good! I used it on my Something Solid XR rack, which has balsa-block + plywood 'dissipating' shelves, and is the best rack (sonically) that I've ever had ... been using it for more than a decade ... hugely recommended.

Forgot to mention in the original post that this comes with the original Shindo mains cable, packaging and manual (well, instruction sheet).

I'm amazed this hasn't sold yet. A bargain at your asking price. I started my Shindo journey with one of these and now use a Masseto preamp and Corton Charlemagne monos and Mr T power conditioners, and a host of other Shindo bits too.
Truly superlative piece of gear.
Good luck with the sale!

Your system ... :wow:

You have my dream power amps!
I'd love to hear them driving my big Tannoys ... let me know if you ever want to sell them :D

Thanks Peter! It has taken a long long time to get to this point though. The CC34s won't be going anywhere, I have plans to buy some Shindo speakers as well...

The big Latours?
That powered field coil approach always seemed like a good idea to me.

As good as the FC Latours are, they're too much $$$$ for me, so I will get the alnico Petite Latours. They'll suit my room better in any case.

Shindo is often considered to be the 'next step' for Leben owners, which is the route I took, having had both the Leben 300 and 600 integrated amps prior to this (preferring the 300 over the 600 BTW). Can confirm, the Shindo was a considerable upgrade!

Totally unrelated to the thread, but being a bit of a pedant - shouldn't your EMT turntable be designated a "927"? Was it simply a typo Neil?
