Well-made wooden plinth for Garrard 401.

Change to a 12inch arm means reluctant sale of my current plinth.

I don't know the history of this plinth, but it is made from stacked ply, carcassed in a solid hardwood.
In terms of damping out rumble, etc, it does the job remarkably well ... better than a previous Bastin plinth ... although, to be fair, it is a bit bigger and better made.

It comes with two armboards, one SME cut, the other blank for drilling, both for 9 inch arms. The feet, spirit level and wiring/socket are included.

The thing weighs nearly 60 pounds, so I will not be posting it to you ... happy to deliver/meet up to 80 miles from Northampton.

When it was shipped to me from Scotland, it was packed in a huge container, but even so, it was slightly damaged where it had been dropped on a corner. I have tried to show the damage in close-up, but in reality it is less noticable in use.

Dimensions: 22x17x8 inches.

Looks like Teak to me.

It's rather nice.

That little 'ding' would be easy to mend and polish.

I wonder who built it?
As a non-woodworker, it certainly seems like it would be quite a complex construction job to me.

The soon to be new owner is very excited, and looking forward to owning it. After a dodgy meet up somewhere, on a dark night, for a hand over of dodgy cash.
