I’m having a problem with my Bushmaster Mk2 creating a crackling noise when it first plays a song/computer noise.

I have a toslink running from iMac to Dac to amp. Each time I restart music there is an initial crackle for .5 of a second. I swapped in my old TC-7510 and this doesn’t happen so I’m pretty sure it is the Bushmaster. It happens on the headphone as well... Any advice advice how to stop this?

Thanks.

p.s. I wrote this before I realised I had emailed Stan on the wrong email address. hopefully he can help... Apologies as i can't see how to delete a thread....

Well, 0.5s it the kind of limit to lock out the signal with preamble and it may happen when changing the sampling rates as well, so don't think that's the BM fault. Rather normal behavior or you may try to put some delay in your player (0.5s) if it has such kind of feature.

Not sure if this is your answer but i do know from reading up myself that its themac not the dac. I too and many other here a slight crackle. The issue appears to be the mac having an upgrade to where as soon as no sound comes out it puts the sound card or something like that into a power save mode and the crackle is it kicking back in. It is more apparant when connected to an audio system. So far there is the odd suggestion on numerous mac forums but as far as i can tell its more a glitch that apple need to address.

Have a google to see if you think its your issue ? I also though it was my BM mk2 but thankfully just a software issue with the mac trying to be power saving and energy efficient.
