Well, I have to say that I'm not a great fan. They can be amazing with classical and the bass is of an interesting kind. They are hit and miss. Too harsh most of the time. Good dynamics. I mighrt have been using wrong amplification but tried it with 6 early transistors. Extremely efficient! I was tempted to hook them up to a headphone amp...

That's an unusual selection of Hi-Fi you have. Quite appeals to me actually. Older Japanese amps can be remarkably good.

I've not owned Rehdeko speakers, but somehow I get the impression that perhaps they may be best matched with valve amplification.

I'm quite fond of early Japanese hifi in general. It would be interesting to get hold of some of the large Sixties floorstanders and see what they are like.

You might be right about Rehdeko speakers. I'd like to hear them sounding good over a broad spectrum of genres and recordings.

Mitsubishi or Diatone 2S 305

I couldn't make out if that was Mitsubishi or Matsushita on the front.

I've actually got a fair sized pair of Mitsubishi DS-30 'Diatone' labelled speakers with ten inch main drivers upstairs. They're not desperately old, late seventies/early eighties I reckon, not bad though and they're on my daughter's system. Those are the only Japanese speakers I have at the moment, apart from a modest collection of loose vintage drive units.

I've often considered finding a set of the original Diatone drivers. but I don't need to now. I got a very fine pair of Philips 8710 drivers that fit into my collection nicely instead.

If you go to audio heritage.jp you'll find a host of interesting looking models. They seem to have been made only for the domestic market, so difficult to find here. Japanese speakers are not held in high esteem for some reason but that wouldn't stop me from trying some.

Some of the sixties and seventies Japanese speakers look magnificent, but I've heard very few.
