Hi,

I have utterly no idea what i'm talking about so i'll do my best to explain!

So i've settled on the amp:

Meixing MingDa MC34-B

What would be the best way, in a wireless fashion, to get music from a PC or Apple device to this amp?

I looked at this: http://www.logitech.com/assets/32377/squeezeboxclassic-ownersguide.pdf but I don't have an ethernet cable in the room (it's all wireless in my house)?

I'm sure there's an easy solution in this day and age...

I have a feeling this may be a very stupid question but I genuinely haven't got a clue.

I am stabbing around in the dark and it seems that a mini mac is a good option but how do I connect it to the amp?

Help an idiot out please........

Hi Kit,

If I understand you correct, you want to play music via mac mini, connecting it somehow with the amp. I think there are several ways to do this.

The mac mini has Headphone jacket, which is Audio out and both digital and analog. Except this there are several USB ports. At the other hand your amp must have some RCA stereo inputs.

So the first possibility might be to use a stereo Mini Jack to RCA cable. This is an analog connection. You must put the minijack end of the cable in the mac mini and the RCA end - into the amp.

The second option is to use an optical cable from the mac mini to some external DAC and a stereo RCA cable from the DAC to the amp.

The third option is mac mini -> USB cable -> USB DAC -> RCA cable -> Amp.

For me the second option is better.

I'm not sure that any wireless connection is possible, but maybe I'm wrong.

Will the second option give me the best sound quality?

I can transfer songs wirelessly between my PC and mini-mac though... right?

But then I have to turn the Mac and TV on to listen to music which is a bit long winded, any other alternatives to the mini-mac?

buy a squeezebox classic or touch on ebay, install logitech media server on the laptop and done.

Perfect, i've also found this, it's a little more subtle branding: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/bluetooth-audio-adapter?crid=47

Is this overkill: http://www.whathifi.com/cambridge-audio/stream-magic-6-v2/review

This seems like a good addition to my system though: http://www.whathifi.com/best-buys/best-dacs-2015

Think the big streamer is overkill financially. The other options will do the job fine I'd think. Gonna be a nice system:)

Easiest way to resolve is, do what Skimminstones (Keith) suggested.................

Buy a Squeezebox Touch on eBay, install Logitech Media Server on the laptop/PC/Mac .... sorted. Use an external DAC for improved SQ.

Bet you're wishing you'd never asked Kit. It's a topic with many permutations it seems. I'd take time and do some research for a while. The best solution for you will no doubt become clear eventually.

Have a look through the Digital Expressions section and see what people are having success with.

You can always email a few dealers, describe your needs and see what they suggest. Some may offer good options and you can always ask here about their ideas.

It's all good, I learned allot, I think i'm going to go for a Logitech Squeezebox Touch and a Logitech Blutooth Audio Adapter into a Arcam irDAC.... I wouldn't of been able to spit that out a week or so ago!

Just need to buy it all now
